Because they have yet to pass national legislation protecting the chiropractic profession, Japanese DCs are in a similar situation that U.S. DCs faced. We were fortunate enough to be able to pass chiropractic licensure state by state. The DCs in Japan must accomplish this nationally, which has proved to be an extremely difficult task. And in spite of their efforts, Japanese DCs are currently faced with two chiropractic professions.
Northeast Chiropractic Council Supports Chiropractic Summit
Members of the Northeast Chiropractic Council met in mid-August in Burlington, Vt., for their quarterly networking meeting. Organizations represented included the Connecticut Chiropractic Association, Maine Chiropractic Association, Massachusetts Chiropractic Society, New Hampshire Chiropractic Association, Association of New Jersey Chiropractors, New York Chiropractic Council, Vermont Chiropractic Association, New York Chiropractic College, and the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic.
At their meeting, a board resolution was introduced and passed to support the Chiropractic Summit in its efforts to move the profession forward by bringing organizations together for a common purpose. It is the intention of the NECC and its members to fully support the profession via the summit in its endorsement of programs.
"Members of the Northeast Chiropractic Council feel the chiropractic profession is in need of direction and the Summit membership provide our best opportunity for focus and positive results," stated Dr. Frank Zolli, president of NECC and dean of UBCC. "With this in mind, the NECC felt it both appropriate and important to go on record and support the Summit and mainstream chiropractic. There is no place in our future for detractors and individuals who confuse issues or splinter the profession."
