Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) is pleased to announce the establishment of the Mano and Zohreh Shaarpour Scholarship Program. The generosity of the Shaarpours, who reside in Houston, will assist many students in attaining the doctor of chiropractic degree at TCC. The Shaarpour Scholarship, in conjunction with the college's honors awards, will total $3,000 over the course of instruction for 10 trimesters.
The initial awards will be worth $1,000 each. Shaarpour Scholars who attain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 after three trimesters will be awarded Honors Scholarships, which will provide an additional $2,000 over the course of the final seven trimesters of study at the TCC. In order to continue as Honors scholars, recipients must attain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 by the end of their sixth trimester of study and maintain that grade-point average until graduation.
"I want to thank the Shaarpours for their generosity in establishing this scholarship program," said Dr. Richard G. Brassard, president of TCC. "This gift will aid many students in achieving their dreams of becoming chiropractors."
The awards will be given to the top 10 percent of the entering students at TCC at the beginning of each trimester, based on the students' academic credentials, personal qualities and demonstrated desire to be a leader as a doctor of chiropractic. All students who complete an application for admission to TCC will be considered.
The first awards will be made at the Recognition Ceremony held at the beginning of the Spring Trimester in January 2010.
