When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. Fast forward to Paris 2024, where chiropractic care was available in the polyclinic for all athletes, and the attitude has now evolved to recognize that “every athlete deserves access to sports chiropractic."
Life West Professor Dr. Dan Murphy Named ICA Chiropractor of the Year
The International Chiropractors Association (ICA) has named Dan Murphy, DC, FICA, a distinguished member of the Life Chiropractic College West faculty, as its 2009 Chiropractor of the Year. The award was presented to Dr. Murphy during the ICA's 83rd Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
Life West President Dr. Gerard Clum commented, "It is wonderful to see Dr. Murphy and his contributions to the profession recognized in such a meaningful way."
Dr. Murphy is the current vice president of the ICA and has served in that leadership position since 2003. He has been a member of Life West's faculty and postgraduate faculty since 1982. He was named ICA's Educator of the Year in 1987, 1991 and 1995. He has also been recognized through numerous "Clinical Science Faculty Awards" from Life West and as the 1997 "Carl S. Cleveland Jr. Educator of the Year" by the ICA of California (ICAC).
In addition to teaching at Life West, Dr. Murphy is in high demand as a speaker and has taught more than 1,000 post-graduate continuing education seminars to tens of thousands of chiropractors worldwide.
