Because they have yet to pass national legislation protecting the chiropractic profession, Japanese DCs are in a similar situation that U.S. DCs faced. We were fortunate enough to be able to pass chiropractic licensure state by state. The DCs in Japan must accomplish this nationally, which has proved to be an extremely difficult task. And in spite of their efforts, Japanese DCs are currently faced with two chiropractic professions.

"We've had to rent space off campus to accommodate our graduation events, which we hold three times a year," said Logan President George Goodman, DC. "With the Purser Center, we're now able to host these graduation ceremonies on campus for the convenience of our graduates, their families and friends."
The building, located on the Chesterfield, Mo. campus, is named after Dr. William D. Purser, a 1953 Logan graduate, who pledged $2 million to the project. The state-of-the-art center includes a 1,500-person main hall, wireless technology and an outdoor amphitheatre that seats up to 900 guests.
Parker Opens New Building in Honor of Philanthropist
"It warms my heart to have my name associated with Parker College," said Dr. Pisciottano, a 1989 graduate of the college. "We are like batteries; we all have to help each other to make things work. Our profession has done well, but it is time for spectacular."
In 2005 alone, Dr. Pisciottano dedicated more than $4.5 million to Parker and other chiropractic colleges. He was also one of the first contributors to the Parker College of Chiropractic Legacy Giving Campaign. "In the spirit of philanthropy, you don't see that much," said Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College.
NCMIC Continues Support of National PR Campaign
NCMIC Group, Inc., recently donated $100,000 to the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress. NCMIC has been a generous supporter of the foundation and its ongoing public relations campaign to educate consumers about chiropractic care. In 2005, NCMIC committed to contributing $1 million to the foundation over a five-year period.
"A public relations campaign to raise the awareness of the benefits of chiropractic, supported by the profession, can have a huge impact on the profession both today and in the future," said NCMIC President Louis Sportelli, DC. "Whether doctor or vendor, we all have a direct interest in the success of this public relations campaign."
