The proposed merger of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards was approved by NBCE delegates and FCLB members at their respective annual meetings, held jointly in Atlanta, Ga., this year. Per the new bylaws, the new entity takes the NBCE name, with FCLB continuing as a department within NBCE. The federation will continue to enjoy Board of Directors representation on what will be a single, expanded board.

Charles Sawyer, DC, senior vice president at Northwestern Health Sciences University, was named the Chiropractor of the Year by the Minnesota Chiropractic Association at the association's annual convention. The Chiropractor of the Year is awarded to a DC who provides outstanding service to the chiropractic profession and the MCA.
"The honoree is dedicated to programs, projects and issues that have been influential in helping position the chiropractic profession in the community and health care arena, said Jennifer Olafson, MCA's education and event specialist. "They must also have a good community service record."
Dr. Sawyer shares credit for the award. "It is nice that the MCA values the efforts here at the University. It is confirmation of the importance of our partnership. I would consider it an acknowledgment of collective efforts. I was representing many others as well."
The MCA awards committee reviews a number of applicants before making a final decision. According to the MCA, Dr. Sawyer was an absolute clear choice.
