DC to Direct Medical Services for Soviet Olympic Team

In a letter to President Bush, the Soviet State Sports Committee (COMSPORT) officially recognized the Federation Internationale de Chiropratique Sportive (FICS) as the "world governing body for the specialty," and asked FICS' delegate and liaison to COMSPORT, Dr. Stephen Press to "accompany our team to Albertville, France as chief of our medical delegation."

Albertville, France is the sight for the 1992 Winter Olympic Games.

Dr. Press is the founding president of FICS (1987-90) and secretary-general of the World Fitness Federation. He is a certified chiropractic sports physician and is the only DC to become a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. In addition, Dr. Press is a Fellow of the International College of Chiropractors.

Dr. Press has previously worked with the Soviet Olympic Team. He treated Gold Medalist Yekaterina Gordeeva, who competed in the 1988 Olympic figure skating competition in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
