When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. News in Brief
Palmer Receives Two Huge Donations
Palmer College of Chiropractic is the recipient of two generous donations – one for $3 million and the other for $1 million. The $3 million donation, courtesy of 1951 graduate William Kiernan, DC, is the largest single donation from a living alumnus in school history. The new Experiential Learning Center, which opened in December 2022, has been renamed the William J. & Mary A. Kiernan Hall – Anatomy & Technique Center in honor of Dr. Kiernan and his late wife.
The $1 million donation, by 1977 graduate Paul Hetrick, DC, will be used to expand the college’s Sports and Rehabilitation Residency program, touted by the college as the longest-standing program of its kind in the nation.
