Because they have yet to pass national legislation protecting the chiropractic profession, Japanese DCs are in a similar situation that U.S. DCs faced. We were fortunate enough to be able to pass chiropractic licensure state by state. The DCs in Japan must accomplish this nationally, which has proved to be an extremely difficult task. And in spite of their efforts, Japanese DCs are currently faced with two chiropractic professions.
Chiropractic Wins First AVA Digital Award
"Adjusted Reality," a weekly podcast produced by the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP), recently won chiropractic's first-ever AVA Digital Award, taking home gold.
The much-coveted AVA Digital Awards are part of an international competition that recognizes outstanding work by creative professionals involving concept, direction, design, and production of media that is part of the evolution of digital communication. This work includes audio and video production, animation, interactive websites, blogs, podcasts, social media sites, and other forms of user-generated communication.
With thousands of global entries annually, winners are chosen by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMPC). Winning an AVA Digital Award brings even greater recognition to the chiropractic profession. As an award recipient, the F4CP is also now a member of the AMPC, which will provide even greater exposure.
"Adjusted Reality" discusses chiropractic, health and wellness approaches for people looking to enhance their quality of life. Sherry McAllister, DC (F4CP president), host of "Adjusted Reality," speaks with professional athletes, celebrities, health care professionals, wellness experts and influencers about their healthy lifestyles. The majority are chiropractic advocates who share their life-changing moments with chiropractic.
Last year, the podcast reached consumers in 53 countries, resulting in almost 10,000 downloads on Buzzsprout alone. This is a 40% increase over the year prior, when the podcast won a Digital Health Award. Currently, "Adjusted Reality" is in the top 25% of all Buzzsprout podcasts globally.
Because each episode continues to be watched by greater numbers of consumers, the current 37 episodes (as of press time) have racked up almost 75,000 downloads. (Interestingly enough, "Adjusted Reality"'s rating is just short of five stars on Apple due to one listener giving it one star because the host kept referring to "doctors of chiropractic," rather than "chiropractors.")
"It's a thrill to be recognized by communications professionals for our work on 'Adjusted Reality,'" said F4CP Chair Kent Greenawalt. "Even though it's only two years old, the podcast has become an essential part of the Foundation's efforts to spread the word about the benefits of chiropractic care."
"Adjusted Reality" is available on all major streaming platforms, including Buzzsprout, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Amazon Podcast and Stitcher.
