When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. Fast forward to Paris 2024, where chiropractic care was available in the polyclinic for all athletes, and the attitude has now evolved to recognize that “every athlete deserves access to sports chiropractic."

WFC: Historic Virtual Meeting
With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing organizations worldwide to adjust their standard operating procedures, the World Federation of Chiropractic did just that, hosting its annual member meeting via Zoom on Nov. 17, 2020.
The event was well-attended, with more than 85 WFC delegates representing 30-plus member nations participating in the meeting, which was originally scheduled to take place in-person in May.
"The atmosphere of this meeting today showed that when the world's chiropractors come together, good things happen," said WFC President Dr. Vivian Kil of The Netherlands, who chaired the meeting and also delivered an inspiring presentation. "Around the world, we know that social determinants of health mean that chiropractors see the world through different lenses. We want to be there to support all our members in bringing chiropractic to every corner of the world."
Philippines Ministry of Health Extends Invitation to WFC Secretary-General
In other WFC news, Secretary-General Dr. Richard Brown recently spoke at the 12th Annual Traditional and Complementary Health Conference, organized by the Philippines Ministry of Health.
According to the WFC, Dr. Brown "stressed the role and responsibility of being responsible advocates for public health in a time of global health crisis. In particular, he spoke of the need to optimize health and wellness through improving function of the neuromusculoskeletal system but also by helping patients and communities improve health through better resilience, improved diet and nutrition and promotion of improved physical activity. Dr. Brown also spoke of the importance of being aware of the impact of COVID-19 on mental health due to widespread fear and uncertainty and the importance of the biopsychosocial model of care."
The WFC's member for the Philippines is the Association of Professional Chiropractors of the Philippines (APCP), led by current president Dr. Martin Camara.
