National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) President Dr. Norman Ouzts announced has announced that Martin W. Kollasch, DC, will be the board's the new executive vice president effective Jan. 1, 2014, succeeding Horace C. Elliott, who is retiring.
Dr. Kollasch is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic and a PhD candidate in organizational performance and change at Colorado State University. Dr. Kollasch was in private practice from 1987 until 1998, when he accepted a position with the NBCE. He is currently NBCE's director of written examinations and director of international operations.
Dr. Kollasch is responsible for the paper-and-pencil and/or computer-based pre- and post-licensure examinations for the chiropractic profession and internationally. As part of these duties, he has been a researcher and co-author of several national practice-analysis survey studies and reports.
The NBCE board conducted a nationwide search to fill the executive vice president (EVP) position. The EVP is the chief operating officer and senior staff member of the organization, and is responsible for implementing policies and achieving goals set by the board of directors. The EVP also oversees the administrative and operational programs and procedures of the NBCE.
In announcing the selection of Dr. Kollasch, Dr. Ouzts stated: "The NBCE Board joins me in congratulating Dr. Kollasch on his selection. His strong background in chiropractic, testing, and business administration was an important component of our search. We are confident that with this appointment, the NBCE will continue to expand upon our core strengths in testing and assessment. Additionally, the initiatives of the international community will benefit from the continuity of leadership from Dr. Kollasch and the board."
When asked about the board's decision, Horace Elliott said, "I am very pleased with the selection, and I expect the transition to be seamless. I am proud of Dr. Kollasch and congratulate him on this well-deserved upward movement in his career. Dr. Kollasch's selection at this time provides ample opportunity to complete the transition by the end of the year."
