Members of the Palmer Student Alumni Foundation (PSAF) spent the past several weeks collecting toys and monetary donations from students, faculty and staff at Palmer College of Chiropractic for this year's Toys for Tots collection by the United States Marine Corps. Their efforts paid off, as they donated nearly $2,000 worth of toys on Dec. 10. In addition, they teamed up with members of the Palmer Campus Guides to volunteer at the Toys for Tots warehouse on Dec. 10.
"The reason for the fundraising is that the student leaders realize what the Davenport community does for us while we live here," said Joe O'Tool, current Palmer student and president of both the Palmer Student Alumni Foundation and the Campus Guides. "We want to be a meaningful part of the community by giving back."
Added Devanni Partridge, a member of both the Campus Guides and PSAF: "Saturday, December 10 was a huge success for Palmer students in the Davenport community when more than 20 current students gathered at the local Toys for Tots warehouse. We not only came with a donation of nearly $2,000 worth of toys, but we also volunteered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., sorting and packing bags for local families. It was a fun, rewarding and educational time for everyone involved as we got to experience the joy of community service and see how much can be accomplished and how many lives can be changed when everyone gives a little."
