Dr. Brian Kelly Named to Replace Clum as Life West President

Carl F. Dieter, DC, chair of the Board of Regents of Life Chiropractic College West, has announced the appointment of Brian Kelly, DC, of Auckland, New Zealand as the college's president-designee following the retirement announcement by longtime Life West President, Gerard W. Clum, DC.

Dr. Kelly enjoyed a successful and vibrant chiropractic practice in Melbourne for over a decade before being selected to serve as the president of the New Zealand College of Chiropractic in Auckland, New Zealand. Over the past seven years, Dr. Kelly has guided the New Zealand College of Chiropractic through recognition by the Ministry of Education of New Zealand and then by the Commission on Accreditation of the Australasian Council on Chiropractic Education. During his tenure as president, he was responsible for dramatically increasing the international enrollment at the College while relocating the institution to a larger campus location in Auckland.

"Brian Kelly is, in the opinion of the Board of Regents of the College, the perfect person to follow in Dr. Clum's footsteps. He has a solid track record of performance, an appreciation for the global demands related to chiropractic education and the personal and professional skills Life West will need as it transitions from a long-seated president to new leadership," commented Dr. Dieter.

Dr. Kelly, a native of New Zealand, completed his professional education and training in chiropractic at the Phillip Institute of Technology (PIT), now the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), in Melbourne, Australia. He is presently completing a Masters in Business Administration at Waikato University, Hamilton, New Zealand.

From the perspective of the outgoing president, Kelly is seen as an ideal person to take the helm of Life Chiropractic College West. "I am very excited about Brian following me as president of Life West," remarked Dr. Clum. "He is one of the shining stars of the chiropractic profession, bringing a superb blend of experience, talent, enthusiasm and dedication to the future of the college--I couldn't be happier for Brian, for the Board, for the College or for the profession!"

The transition from the presidency of Dr. Clum to Dr. Kelly will take place in late January/early February, as the final details of the transition will be worked out over the weeks ahead.
