Palmer College of Chiropractic Chancellor Dennis Marchiori, DC, has announced the selection of Robert "Bucky" Percuoco, DC, as vice chancellor for academics (VCA) for the Palmer university system. Dr. Percuoco was identified from a pool of 12 local and national candidates for the position. As VCA, he will oversee all matters of academic affairs on each of the three Palmer campuses and will also serve as a member of the college's executive administrative team. Palmer's campuses are located in Davenport, Iowa, San Jose, Calif., and Port Orange, Fla.
"Dr. Percuoco has proven his leadership in numerous ways for both the Davenport Campus and the College as a whole," said Dr. Marchiori. "His efforts in the areas of academic and institutional assessment have been invaluable to Palmer, especially his contributions toward obtaining regional accreditation for all three campuses through the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools."
A Massachusetts native, Dr. Percuoco received his Bachelor of Science degree from Stonehill College and earned his doctor of chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1983. Following graduation, he joined the college as a clinical teaching resident and worked part-time in the Palmer Chiropractic Clinics. He attained an instructor position in 1985 and then advanced through a number of instructional and departmental leadership roles in radiology, post-graduate education and the Associate of Science in Chiropractic Technology program.
In 1997, he was named dean of academic affairs on the Davenport campus and then moved into the role of dean of academic programs in 1999. He held that position until 2003, when he was appointed vice president for academic affairs for assessment, and later senior director for assessment.
Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Percuoco was also recently elected as a councilor of the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE).
"With more than 25 years of service to Palmer College, I am honored to serve my alma mater at this level," said Dr. Percuoco. "I look forward to building on the initiatives established by Dr. Marchiori during his time in this role, including the advancement of academic planning and assessment outcomes. I know Palmer College is poised for many great things in the coming years and I look forward to seeing future generations of chiropractors benefit from the quality of our academic programs."
Added Dr. Marchiori: "I have every confidence that his expertise and insight will lend great value to the continued enhancement of the academic experience of our students. He will be a great addition to the College leadership team and our overall commitment to chiropractic education."
