When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. Fast forward to Paris 2024, where chiropractic care was available in the polyclinic for all athletes, and the attitude has now evolved to recognize that “every athlete deserves access to sports chiropractic."
ACA Names Janet Ridgely as Acting Executive Vice President
The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) has announced that Janet Ridgely will serve as acting executive vice president (EVP) until a successor is named. Kevin Corcoran, CAE, announced he was stepping down from the position last month.
An ACA staff member for 12 years, Ms. Ridgely most recently served as vice president of meetings and administration. In her new role, she will manage the day-to-day operations of the association, working with department vice presidents and staff to continue to deliver valuable services for members and leadership to the chiropractic profession.
"Janet brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the ACA, as well as years of dedication to chiropractic," said ACA President Glenn Manceaux, DC. "We believe that ACA members - and the entire profession - will be well served with Janet at the helm of our initiatives and activities."
The coming months will see great activity from the ACA, with ongoing work to represent chiropractic in national health reform, the Chiropractic Symposium & Expo, slated for October, and many other programs.
"The ACA Board of Governors is confident in Janet's ability to serve as acting EVP at this time," said ACA Chairman John Gentile, DC. "The Board looks forward to working with her on ACA projects and meeting the ongoing goals of the association."
The ACA Board of Governors has begun the process of seeking a new executive vice president and will soon name a search committee. The board hopes to have a new EVP in place by the fall.
