New York's highest court of appeals has held that no-fault insurers cannot deny no-fault benefits where they unilaterally determine that a provider has committed misconduct based upon alleged fraudulent conduct. The Court held that this authority belongs solely to state regulators, specifically New York's Board of Regents, which oversees professional licensing and discipline. This follows a similar recent ruling in Florida reported in this publication.
Standard Process Receives Worksite Wellness Award
Standard Process, Inc., has been named to the Wisconsin Governor's Worksite Wellness Award list. The company's employee wellness program received the Silver Award, which recognizes employers who promote a work environment that encourages and enables their employees to improve their overall health and well-being.
"We are very excited to have our program achieve this level," said Scott Alcorn, human resources director at Standard Process. "We focus on prevention as the key solution to the growing health care crisis. With the ongoing support of our management team and cooperation of our employees, we are controlling health care costs, while providing the opportunity for our workforce to be healthier, happier, and more productive in their personal and professional lives."
Standard Process utilizes a chiropractic care model as the cornerstone of its employee wellness program. Central to this philosophy is the emphasis placed on nutritional education and counseling, whole-food supplementation, physical fitness and routine health screenings. Standard Process believes that a key solution to health care is prevention.
The Governor's Council on Physical Fitness & Health designed the award in 2008. Applications are evaluated on criteria that include: program infrastructure; health education; health screening and disease prevention and management; physical activity and nutrition components; tobacco use policies; and alcohol and other drug policies.
