It’s a new year and many chiropractors are evaluating what will enhance their respective practices, particularly as it relates to their bottom line. One of the most common questions I get is: “Do I need to be credentialed to bill insurance, and what are the best plans to join?” It’s a loaded question – but one every DC ponders. Whether you're already in-network or pondering whether to join, here's what you need to know.
CCGPP to Release Thoracic Chapter for Review/Comment
The Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters (CCGPP) has announced that it will post "Chiropractic Management of Thoracic Spine Conditions: A Literature Synthesis Draft" for review and commentary at www.ccgpp.org on May 21, 2009. The comment period will remain open until July 20, 2009.
The thoracic chapter was written by CCGPP commission member Jeffrey R. Cates, DC, MS, and his team. It is the eighth chapter to be released in the council's ongoing best-practices initiative, as commissioned by its founding organizations. It should be noted that this chapter represents only the literature synthesis; future projects are planned to translate the evidence into useful information for the DC practice, to be published in its final form as part of the Clinical Chiropractic Compass.
Please be reminded the comment period for an evidence synthesis on "Report of the Neck Pain Task Force Literature Synthesis Draft" will end May 15, 2009.
Comments on these documents should be submitted in electronic format to ccgpp@sc.rr.com and include a discussion of the conclusions, submission of additional literature for review, and editorial suggestions.
