The National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company (NCMIC) Foundation has awarded the Jerome F. McAndrews, D.C., Memorial Research Fund to Sidney Rubinstein, DC, PhD, a 1992 graduate of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic.
Dr. Rubinstein was selected for his long-standing efforts to advance research. Specifically, he was cited for contributing to practical applications for chiropractic practice, maintaining high ethical standards, and working collaboratively with professional interdisciplinary teams to enhance better understanding of patient treatments.
Dr. Rubinstein's early works included coordinating the visiting scholars program at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and being a research assistant to Scott Haldeman, DC, MD, PhD. Recently, Dr. Rubinstein completed his PhD dissertation, which included a series of published papers addressing reported adverse events following chiropractic care. Dr. Rubinstein also has presented at various scientific and international conferences and has been a consistent contributor to the literature, publishing 19 papers in 17 years.
Currently, Dr. Rubinstein is working as a post-doc at the VU University Medical Center, Amsterdam. His area of interest is predictors of outcome with chiropractic care, specifically the role of psychosocial factors. He is also a member of the Cochrane Back Review Group and is working on a series of systematic reviews to evaluate the efficacy of treatments for chronic low-back pain.
The Jerome F. McAndrews, D.C., Memorial Research Fund was created by the NCMIC Foundation to honor Dr. McAndrews' longtime support of the scientific and practical advancement of the study of chiropractic. Each year, ICD-10-CM is updated on Oct. 1. For 2026, there are 74,179 total codes, with 487 additions, 28 deletions and 38 revisions. Code changes are based on date of service, not the claim submission date. Services performed on/after Oct. 1 must use the new codes. While no changes affect the common spinal or extraspinal codes most frequently used by DCs, several updates may still affect your claims – particularly for comorbidities, referred pain, or trauma cases.
