ACA Fights for Chiropractic in Connecticut
Following a teleconference on Dec. 12, the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) Executive Committee recommended that several steps be taken in support of the Connecticut Chiropractic Association's (CCA) ongoing battle against anti-chiropractic groups in the state. As reported previously, Connecticut chiropractors have been fighting for several years against the Chiropractic Stroke Awareness Group and Victims of Chiropractic Abuse, both of which have carried out sustained campaigns to inform the public of the "dangers" of chiropractic care.
The ACA pledged that it will assist the CCA "in countering any inappropriate activities by the group, including a contribution to CCA from the National Chiropractic Legal Action Fund (NCLAF). This contribution, which would help to defray CCA's legal expenses to date, was approved unanimously by both the ACA Board of Governors and the NCLAF Executive Committee."

COCSA Begins Search for New Executive Director
The Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA) has announced that Janet Jordan, CAE, will no longer be serving as executive director of the organization. In making the announcement, COCSA stated: "Ms. Jordan faithfully served the Congress for 12 years and has made numerous contributions to the chiropractic profession. The Board of Directors will pursue a new direction with regard to its executive leadership ... and is confident that new administrative leadership will benefit the Congress immensely, and it is committed to making this transition occur as smoothly as possible."

Sherman Names Faculty Member of the Year
Max Ivanov, MD, an instructor of basic sciences at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic, was named Faculty Member of the Year for 2007. According to the college, the award recognizes "a faculty member who is an excellent instructor; a moral and ethical inspiration to students and colleagues; a role-model in working to advance the practice of subluxation centered chiropractic; and a person who participates in college events and other activities outside the classroom that promote the mission of Sherman College."
A native of Russia, where he attained his medical degree, Dr. Ivanov teaches cardio diagnosis, physiology lab, cardio physiology and fluids at Sherman.
