When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. Fast forward to Paris 2024, where chiropractic care was available in the polyclinic for all athletes, and the attitude has now evolved to recognize that “every athlete deserves access to sports chiropractic."
Leander Health Technologies Under New Management
Leander Health Technologies, a leading chiropractic exam and treatment table manufacturer, announced that Dennis L. Anthony, DC, a board member for more than 15 years, will become its new president and CEO. In addition to his position on the Leander board, Dr. Anthony is a noted author and lecturer, best known for his book, Flexion-Distraction, Motion Adjusting. As a practicing chiropractor in Lawrence, Kan., Dr. Anthony is a respected member of his community and shares his passion of chiropractic with the medical community by having the rare benefit of full privileges at the local hospital.
Handing off the baton is Rick Flaherty, who, in addition to his role as president of Leander, also has been actively involved in the success of chiropractic nonprofit organizations such as the World Federation of Chiropractic and the Chiropractic Centennial Foundation. Mr. Flaherty remarked: "I can't think of any chiropractor in the profession today with more passion, drive and commitment for bettering the profession - his leadership will take one of the leading chiropractic tables in the profession to the next level. Dr. Anthony will add a new level of knowledge and education that will benefit every DC who uses a motorized flexion-distraction table in their practice."
The company's headquarters will be moving to Lawrence, where Dr. Anthony has his clinic. This move will facilitate an opportunity for additional research on flexion-distraction and motion adjusting at the University of Kansas. All aspects of the organization will continue from Lawrence, which should benefit chiropractors, as this more centrally located facility will be able to better serve the profession from the Midwest rather than the Northwest.
"I am extremely proud to be taking over Leander Health Technologies, a company that year after year has continued to manufacture one of the highest quality flexion distraction tables on the market," said Dr. Anthony. "My goals are quite simple. I will continue to manufacture the highest quality flexion-distraction table there is. I will slowly integrate changes on the table to improve its efficacy on our patients, while continuing to lessen the wear and tear on the doctor's body. I welcome all suggestions from my colleagues on what changes and additions they would like to see on the best flexion-distraction table ever made."
Flaherty added: "We are excited and privileged to have Dr. Anthony take over management of the Leander Health Technologies company, and we are confident that this move will continue to bring to the profession the quality, service and patient benefit that the Leander table has brought to chiropractors worldwide for more than 25 years. Over the next several years, look for flexion-distraction curriculums being introduced to all of the chiropractic colleges, increased lecture forums on flexion-distraction, motion adjusting and a clear perspective on the unmatched benefits of the Leander table."
