When I graduated from chiropractic college in 1981 and started practice, I heard it all, and very little was positive. “You are a quack; you do not know what a subluxation is; you couldn’t get into a real health care program, so you chose the one that is slightly above a mail-order degree; you have no proof that chiropractic works; Are you really licensed?”, and so much more.

On August 4, the San Diego County Chiropractic Society held its annual Chiropractic Friendship Party at Lawrence's Restaurant in La Jolla, California. The event was a tremendous success, drawing over 300 DCs, staff, friends, medical practitioners, and legislators from all over San Diego County.
Perhaps the most significant aspect of this year's party was the attendance of our state representatives. Three members of the Assembly, Carol Bentley (77th), Tricia Hunter (76th), and Robert Frazee (75th) were there, along with Senators Wadie Deddeh (40th) and Bill Craven (38th). Other representatives phoned their regrets prior to the event.
The grand showing of legislators speaks very highly of San Diego's political grass roots efforts to know and interact with their elected official as well as for the fine job that the California Chiropractic Association (CCA) is doing in Sacramento and throughout the state to further educate legislators about chiropractic.
