When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. Fast forward to Paris 2024, where chiropractic care was available in the polyclinic for all athletes, and the attitude has now evolved to recognize that “every athlete deserves access to sports chiropractic."
Stephanie Mary McCubbin, D.C., Dies at Age 72
Dr. Stephanie Mary McCubbin, a long time Dallas, Texas chiropractor has died in Dallas at age 72, after a long illness.
Born in Ware, Massachusetts, she came to Dallas in 1949 to practice chiropractic. She practiced with her husband, Dr. Curtis S. McCubbin for 41 years at 11220 Garland Road, in the White Rock area of Dallas. The office is still in operation.
After graduating from the Kansas State Chiropractic College in 1948, she served as a member on the board of regents of the Texas Chiropractic Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas for 12 years; as president of the Dallas County Chiropractic Society in 1969; associate editor of the Texas Chiropractic Association Journal for 25 years; and Texas editor for Chiropractic Economics, a national publication. Dr. McCubbin served as a chairman on many committees of the Texas Chiropractic Association, was a member of the American Chiropractic Association and a fellow of the International College of Chiropractic. In 1974, she was honored with the Texas Chiropractic Association's highest award, the Keeler Chiropractor of the Year plaque. Dr. McCubbin was a member of the Christian Church and Zonta International Businesswomen's Club. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Curtis S. McCubbin of Dallas; son Patrick C. McCubbin, of Schulenburg, Texas; grandchildren, Amber and Katie; brothers, Frank Godek of Hatfield, Massachusetts, Louis Godek of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and Joseph Godek of Danielson, Connecticut; and a sister, Aniela Audet of Deerfield Beach, Florida.
Graveside services were held on June 9 at Mission Burial Park, San Antonio, Texas. The pallbearers were members of the Dallas County Chiropractic Society and the Texas Chiropractic Association.
