MD on L.A. News Program Says Chiropractors Aren't Doctors

On Thursday, January 28, KCOP channel 13 in Los Angeles aired an alternative health care segment on their 10:00 nightly news program. On that program, Richard Colin, MD said that millions of dollars are spent on worthless alternative health care, i.e., health care outside the realm of medicine. He further stated that chiropractors were not doctors.

The news director of the program was Jeff Wald.

There has long been an attempt by those who are not legitimate doctors of chiropractic to usurp the title of chiropractor from those who have earned their degree from an accredited chiropractic program. Effective Sept. 1, 2024, UHC/Optum is requiring prior authorization for the following services delivered in office and outpatient hospital settings, excluding services in the home: Medicare-covered chiropractic services (when billed with the AT-modifier), as well as physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy (ST).
