National Centennial Ad Campaign Coming

Soon, people from Brooklyn, New York to Los Angeles, California will open their local newspapers and read about the chiropractic centennial. To spread the word about the chiropractic profession and its centennial celebration, the Chiropractic Centennial Foundation (CCF) will implement a nationwide multi-page newspaper advertising supplement. Local DCs will have the opportunity to participate.

Lee Enterprises, a major newspaper chain based in Davenport, Iowa, will contact newspapers with circulations over 20,000 in the 64 largest metropolitan areas of the US to solicit their participation in a tabloid-size supplement of 8-12 pages to be inserted into their papers. The CCF will provide the supplement's editorial content, and the paper's sales staff will sell the remaining space to local DCs who desire to advertise in the publication.

To generate interest in the program, Lee Enterprises will be sending a prototype of the supplement to over 250 newspapers in the 64 markets. Once a paper agrees to participate, local DCs will be contacted to buy space. DCs who have not heard from their local paper by February 1995 are invited to contact them and encourage their participation in the program. A few phone calls from prospective DC advertisers could influence the paper's decision to run the supplement.

The first advertising supplements are scheduled to appear in newspapers across the country before the Grand Celebration in Washington D.C., July 1995.
