When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. Fast forward to Paris 2024, where chiropractic care was available in the polyclinic for all athletes, and the attitude has now evolved to recognize that “every athlete deserves access to sports chiropractic."
Chiropractic Section of American Public Health Association Honors Dr. William Meeker
Dr. Meeker's leadership positions and commitment to the chiropractic section of the American Public Health Association have earned him the "Distinguished Service" award.
William Meeker, DC, MPH, director of the Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research, and the principal investigator for the Consortial Center for Chiropractic Research, has received the "Distinguished Service" award from the chiropractic section of the American Public Health Association (APHA).
Chiropractic is the newest section within the APHA. Rand Baird, DC, chairman of the APHA's awards committee for the chiropractic section, praised Dr. Meeker for his leadership in the APHA, noting his efforts as an officer, committee member and chairman.
Humana Chooses Alignis for Chiropractic Services
Alignis, Inc., has announced an agreement with Humana to provide chiropractic services to its Georgia-based commercial members. This agreement covers more than 95,000 Humana members statewide. Alignis will provide Humana health plan members with statewide access to Alignis' network of 250 chiropractors.
"Humana is committed to giving our members the health care options they need," said Karen Hornsby, executive director of Humana's Georgia operations. "The addition of the Alignis network greatly expands our members' choices in chiropractic care."

Alignis is a privately held specialty managed care company that focuses on organizing and managing musculoskeletal providers. The company currently manages a network of chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists and physical therapists in nine states.
