In the next issue of Dynamic Chiropractic (October 18, 1999), all licensed doctors of chiropractic in the world (72,000+) will be given a user identification number and password. While this will have a number of uses in the near future, the first will be to facilitate "DCs Only" discussion forums on ChiroWeb.com.

ChiroWeb has incorporated the latest in online bulletin board technology in developing its new discussion forum network. The new format will be featured on the following forums: DCs Only; Chiropractic Student Forum; and a new service called Clinical Excellence and Practice Success (CEPS). There will also be an open discussion forum for discussions between DCs, chiropractic students, consumers and other health professionals.

There are numerous advantages to using a password-based system. Since the discussion forums will require a password to post messages, chiropractors will now have a secure area to discuss issues relevant to chiropractic free from scrutiny by anyone from outside the profession. The new program contains several other features worth noting:

• Users can create and initiate their own discussion topics.

• Users can choose their own posting name for anonymous posting.

• Rather than clicking on individual responses to read an entire discussion, the new system displays posts and response at the same time.

To aid in registration, user IDs and passwords have been generated for each licensed DC. Your individual ID and password will be included at the top of the front page of your October 18th issue of Dynamic Chiropractic. Complete the online registration immediately upon receipt of your personal user ID and password. This will create a permanent record in the system and allow you to request your user ID and password should you ever forget them.

While chiropractic students will not be issued predefined user IDs and passwords, you're encouraged to register on the Student and Open Forums (only one registration is needed for both forums). Students will be allowed to designate their own user ID and password which will be stored in the system.

Beyond the new discussion forums, DCs will be using their personal user IDs and passwords to get "DCs Only" prices on products and services in ChiroMall, a service that will launch early next year. When you enter your user ID and password the system will automatically display those products and prices that are only available to doctors of chiropractic.

A new patient communication service will also be offered early next year, again accessed with your user ID and password.
