Guy Riekeman, DC, president of Palmer College of Chiropractic, and Neil Stern, DC, acting president of Parker College of Chiropractic, joined the board of directors of the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) at the annual meeting in January. Both men are chief executive officers of CCE-accredited programs and institutions.
Three members of the council's Commission on Accreditation also began three-year terms:
Bruce Gundersen, DC, a private practitioner from Salt Lake City, Utah, was reappointed as the ACA's representative.
Charles Sawyer, DC, vice president for academic affairs and research at Northwestern College of Chiropractic, was re-elected as a programmatic/institutional representative.
Joseph Malik, EdD, who served for seven years as the executive director for the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges' Commission on Colleges, was elected as a public member. He replaced Dr. Meredith Gonyea, who had worked for the CCE and COA the past 17 years.
60 Years of Service and Going Strong This past fall, the Georgia Chiropractic Association honored Dr. William Harris' 60 years of service to the chiropractic profession. Dr. Harris' philanthropy, channeled through his Foundation for the Advancement of Chiropractic Education, is renown.
In recognition of his years of service, a "Dr. William Harris Lifetime Achievement" award was established. The first recipient of the award was Ray Thomas, DC, of Cornelia, Georgia.
The program honoring Dr. Harris was introduced by Dr. Joe Teal of Dallas, Georgia. Other guests and speakers at the program including NCMIC President Dr. Louis Sportelli; Dr. Bobby Doscher, president of Oklahaven Children's Center; and Dr. George Goodman, president of Logan College of Chiropractic.
