Some doctors thrive in a personality-based clinic and have a loyal following no matter what services or equipment they offer, but for most chiropractic offices who are trying to grow and expand, new equipment purchases help us stay relevant and continue to service our client base in the best, most up-to-date manner possible. So, regarding equipment purchasing: should you lease, get a bank loan, or pay cash?

Dr. Ron Oberstein, Life Chiropractic College West’s third president, has announced he will retire effective June 30, 2025, calling his tenure as president of the college “one of the most meaningful and transformative experiences of my life.”
“Throughout my tenure, I have had the privilege of working alongside an extraordinary community of students, faculty, and staff, all dedicated to advancing chiropractic education and service. Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones, including the opening of Life West Nebraska, introducing the Clinically Inspired Curriculum, and pioneering the Life West Service Trips around the world.
“We've enhanced educational opportunities through the Early Clinic Entrance and Last-Year Preceptor Program, established the Nexus Brain Center and Technology Training Center, and upgraded classroom technology across the college. Our institutional growth is evident in our multiple articulation agreements and our WASC accreditation, which further solidified Life West's standing as a leader in chiropractic education. Perhaps most significantly, we are nearing the completion of Life West India – the first chiropractic college in India. I am immensely proud of the legacy we have built together.”
Dr. Oberstein emphasized that as the Board of Regents begins its search for the next Life West president, he “will remain available to provide guidance and share institutional knowledge to ensure a smooth transition.”
Before taking the helm as Life West president in 2017, Dr. Oberstein was a member of the Life West Board of Regents from 1991 to 2016, including two years as board chair. His professional service outside Life West included positions as chair of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges (currently ACC past president) and vice president of the International Chiropractors Association (ICA). Dr. Oberstein is a 1981 Life Chiropractic College (now Life University) graduate.
