New York's highest court of appeals has held that no-fault insurers cannot deny no-fault benefits where they unilaterally determine that a provider has committed misconduct based upon alleged fraudulent conduct. The Court held that this authority belongs solely to state regulators, specifically New York's Board of Regents, which oversees professional licensing and discipline. This follows a similar recent ruling in Florida reported in this publication.
Standard Process President Receives Honorary Degree From National
Charles DuBois, president of Standard Process Inc., has received an honorary doctorate from National University of Health Sciences. DuBois, the commencement speaker for the spring 2009 NUHS graduating class, received the honorary degree for his continuous support of chiropractic and its future.
Since becoming Standard Process' president in 1995, DuBois has made significant contributions to chiropractic. Through the company, he has provided funding for endowed nutrition chairs and scholarship programs, supplied products to college clinics, contributed financially to campus renovations for many of the chiropractic schools and is a board member of several chiropractic associations.
In presenting the award, NUHS President James Winterstein, DC, thanked DuBois for his hard work and "commitment to whole health healing, to the support of human nutrition and to the university."
