Back pain? Blame the psoas. Seems as if everybody wants to dive headfirst into their psoas at the first sign of trouble with the lumbopelvic-hip region. Perhaps no other muscle is blamed more for causing problems than the psoas. Yes, it is an important stabilizer of the lumbar spine, but it shouldn't be the only one on which you focus. There is another big player on the scene: the iliacus.
Robert Morrison, DC, DIBAK, DACBN
Dr. Robert Morrison graduated from Western States Chiropractic College (WSCC) in Portland, Ore., in 2001. That same year, he relocated to Italy, where he gained experience both in private practice and in health care facilities throughout the country. By 2009, Dr. Morrison had achieved diplomate status in applied kinesiology (DIBAK) and become president of the Italian chapter (ICAK Italia). Dr. Morrison is an international lecturer and published the authoritative textbook Applied Kinesiology Manual Muscle Testing. In 2013, he became a certified functional medicine practitioner; and in 2015, became a diplomate of the Board of Clinical Nutritionists (DABCN). Dr. Morrison currently resides and practices in New York City.
