Because they have yet to pass national legislation protecting the chiropractic profession, Japanese DCs are in a similar situation that U.S. DCs faced. We were fortunate enough to be able to pass chiropractic licensure state by state. The DCs in Japan must accomplish this nationally, which has proved to be an extremely difficult task. And in spite of their efforts, Japanese DCs are currently faced with two chiropractic professions.

Gary Cuneo is a former executive vice president of the American Chiropractic Association (1995-2005); executive director of the California Chiropractic Association (1983-1995); and consultant to the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (2006-2015). He also participated in the Reagan Administration (1972-72 and 1981-83) during his terms as Calif. governor and U.S. president. Gary earned a BA in Political History from Saint Mary’s College of California and an honorary degree from Palmer West.
