PORTLAND, Ore. - Joseph Brimhall, DC, has been appointed president of Western States Chiropractic College (WSCC). The Feb. 27 announcement was made by Dr. James Badge, chair of WSCC's board of trustees.
Dr. William H. Dallas is retiring in June after 17 years as president of the college. Dr. Brimhall will officially begin his tenure at WSCC on May 1, and assume full responsibility as president July 1.
"I am very pleased to accept the position of president of Western States Chiropractic College," said Dr. Brimhall. "Western States has always represented the finest in chiropractic education, as evidenced by its students' high scores on the national board exams and the confidence with which its graduates enter the field, prepared to provide the best treatment for their patients. Furthermore, the college has made dramatic improvements to the campus, incorporating the latest technology in its new lecture facilities. As the new president, I hope to continue with improvements and expansions, service the alumni via programs and products, and enhance the existing clinic experience for students at Western States."
A 1981 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic, Dr. Brimhall joins Western States with an impressive rŽsumŽ that includes more than 20 years of private practice in Utah. He chaired the Council on Chiropractic Education's (CCE) Commission on Accreditation (COA) for three years, a term of service that ended in January of this year. He also chaired the Utah State Chiropractic Physicians Licensing Board for two terms and has served on the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) Part IV Grading and Scoring Committee; the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (FCLB); the Council Review Committee for CCE-Canada; and as a consultant to the European Council on Chiropractic Education.
Dr. Badge said he and the board of trustees have complete confidence in the direction Dr. Brimhall will take WSCC when he assumes leadership:
"He brings to the presidency a strong commitment to chiropractic educational standards, to enhancing research and collaboration, and to defining the role of WSCC graduates within the healthcare system. He promises to provide the strong, ethical leadership to move WSCC into its second hundred years. The Board is very excited to have Dr. Brimhall onboard and is looking forward to working closely with him in the coming years."
