When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. Fast forward to Paris 2024, where chiropractic care was available in the polyclinic for all athletes, and the attitude has now evolved to recognize that “every athlete deserves access to sports chiropractic."
New President of WFC Elected: Dr. John Maltby
In May, Dr. John Maltby was confirmed as the World Federation of Chiropractic's 17th president at the WFC Board of Directors meeting in London, England. Dr. Maltby will serve as president of the federation for a two-year term (2022-24).
"I am very excited to have this opportunity to impact the future of chiropractic internationally by serving in this position," said Dr. Maltby. "Chiropractic should be available to everyone, regardless of their circumstances or where they live.
"The most pressing issue at the moment is bringing everyone, regardless of their differences, to the table for the advancement of chiropractic. There has never been a more important time to present a united front and I am committed to leading the organization for the benefit of the many, not the few."
A 1977 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Maltby has served on the WFC board since 2015, spearheading several key initiatives for the organization. In addition to a full-time practice, his professional participation over the years (in addition to his role on the WFC board) includes serving as president of the International Chiropractors Association from 2005-2009 and chairing the ICA Board from 2009-2013.
Editor's Note: Other WFC board members elected at the London meeting include Dr. Kendrah Da Silva (vice president, re-elected) and Dr. Ryan Coster (elected as secretary-treasurer).
