NYCC Aggregates Degree Programs in New School
New York Chiropractic College has announced the development of a School of Health Sciences and Education that currently encompasses three degree programs: the Master of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition, Master of Science in Human Anatomy and Physiological Instruction, and Bachelor of Professional Studies. Dr. Nicolas Poirier will serve as dean and director of academic services, overseeing a school he says "will offer new opportunities for interprofessional collaboration in the education of future health sciences and academic professionals."
Palmer Chancellor Receives Education Award From ICA
Dr. Dennis Marchiori received a Excellence in Chiropractic Education award from the International Chiropractors Association at the ICA's 90th annual meeting. Dr. Marchiori, fourth chancellor of the Palmer university system, received the award from ICA President Dr. George Curry on Palmer's main campus in Davenport, Iowa, which hosted the ICA meeting this year.
In presenting the award, Dr. Curry stated: "ICA deeply respects and appreciates the efforts of Dr. Marchiori to lead and innovate in the realm of chiropractic education and to also maintain a powerful focus on the core principles of chiropractic."
The ICA also honored Dr. Hugo Gibson at this year's meeting with the Dr. Herbert Ross Reaver Award, recognizing Dr. Gibson for "a lifetime of exceptional service, leadership and accomplishment on behalf of the chiropractic profession."
"I am deeply humbled and honored that my peers on the Board of the International Chiropractors Association would find me worthy of such a meaningful and prestigious award," said Dr. Gibson. "I will continually endeavor to be worthy of this recognition and to honor the legacy of the special individual after whom it is named."
Oklahaven Announces "Have a Heart" Winners
Life Chiropractic College West (Hayward, Calif.) and Groene Chiropractic Clinic (Schuyler, Neb.) are the college and clinic winners of Oklahaven Children's Chiropractic Center's 2016 "Have a Heart" contest, respectively. The annual fund-raising campaign, held Feb. 5-14 this year, raises money for the center during Valentine's week while highlighting the benefits of chiropractic care for children, particularly special-needs children.
