ACA Exec. Vice President Out, Acting EVP In

Richard Miller, former American Chiropractic Association vice president of government relations and a longtime political consultant to the association, has been named ACA acting executive vice president, succeeding James Potter. A respected political lobbyist, Miller served as chief of staff to a U.S. senator and as senior official of the U.S. Customs Service under President Reagan.

James Potter joined the ACA as executive vice president in late 2013. The ACA press release announcing Miller's appointment did not mention a reason for Potter's departure or if / when the association would begin a search for a permanent EVP.

F4CP Executive Director Retires; New ED Named

Garrett Cuneo, who served as executive director of the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress for nine years, has retired as of March 1. His replacement, Kristine Dowell, assumes the ED role after serving in a similar capacity for the Michigan Association of Chiropractors.

In addition to her role with MAC, Dowell has extensive experience in the chiropractic / health care sector, including service as executive director at large for the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA) board of directors; founder and member of the board of directors for the Michigan Chiropractic Foundation; and founder of MichiCare, an Independent Physician Association in Michigan. She has been honored by numerous chiropractic organizations for her service, receiving an American Chiropractic Association Achievement Award, International Chiropractors Association President's Award; Michigan Association of Chiropractors President's Award, and Michigan Chiropractic Society Chiropractic Advocate Award.

In related news, the foundation recently recognized MAC as its highest monthly donor among state associations, contributing $32,000 annually. The Michigan state association became the foundation's first group member earlier this year.

"To all other chiropractic groups, we ask that you also join this important cause by matching or exceeding our 2015 contribution," said Dr. Kenneth Murkowski II, vice president of MAC District 4.
