Palmer Florida President Honored at FCA National Convention

Peter Martin, DC, the president of Palmer College of Chiropractic's Port Orange, Fla., campus, was presented with the 2014 Chiropractor of the Year award during the annual convention of the Florida Chiropractic Association (FCA) in Orlando.

FCA President Michael Chance, DC, presented the award, citing Dr. Martin's "outstanding service to the chiropractic profession in Florida, your community and fellow citizens." Dr. Chance added: "It is amazing how far Peter Martin has been able to advance his and Palmer's presence and prestige here in the state of Florida. This could only be accomplished by his hard work and persistence."

The award celebrates Dr Martin's 46 years of service to the chiropractic profession as a clinician, educator, administrator and, finally, as president of Palmer's Port Orange campus. "He has overseen the graduation of over 2,000 doctors of chiropractic from the Port Orange campus," Dr. Chance continued. "His support of chiropractic and the FCA is seen not only at Palmer's Port Orange campus but throughout the state. He participates in all five of the FCA conventions and lobbies for health issues in both Tallahassee and Washington, D.C."

Added Dr. Martin: "Coming from the FCA, this is truly an honor. One reason chiropractic has flourished in Florida is because of all the FCA has done for the profession. It is an award also for Palmer College, for what we have done to represent chiropractic education and all of the doctors of chiropractic throughout Florida."

Dr. Martin has been president of Palmer's Port Orange campus since 2005. Before that, he served as president of Palmer's campus in San Jose, Calif. He was president of the California Chiropractic Association from 1988-89 and was a member of the California State Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
