The 24th National Women's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place on the New York Chiropractic College campus in the Standard Process Health and Fitness Center on Oct. 12. Hosted by the Hall every two years, the event honors the lives and achievements of American women in fields ranging from education, business and government to the arts, athletics, humanities, philanthropy and science.
NYCC President Dr. Frank Nicchi, delighted the college was selected to hold the event, congratulated the inductees: "What an honor it is to participate in such an illuminating ceremony that pays tribute to our country's exceptional women!"
Among the nine women inducted this year were House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and the late former First Lady, Betty Ford, whose medallion was accepted by daughter, Susan Ford Bales. Other inductees included "mother of authentic midwifery," Ina May Gaskin; horse-racing jockey Julie Krone; feminist activist, writer, visual artist, filmmaker, teacher and human-rights advocate Kate Millett; financial historian Anna Jacobson Schwartz; founder of the Maryknoll Sisters, Mother Mary Joseph Rogers; founder of the first all-female school of higher learning in 1821, Emma Hart Willard; and Bernice Resnick Sandler, advocate for educational equity for women and girls.
