ACA Contributes to Washington Post Article on Essential Benefits

ACA Senior Vice President of Government Relations, John Falardeau, was recently quoted in a Washington Post article discussing one of the most critical components of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) – determining what health care benefits are absolutely essential. The article addresses how state advisory boards are currently working to determine what exactly "essential care" means in their state.

"It's a very big issue for us," said Falardeau when asked about how DCs are getting involved at state level discussions. "We've been working hard with our state associations to make sure they're at these meetings, to even get on the essential benefit advisory board."

DCs were able to secure a seat on Maryland's essential health benefits advisory board, but were left out of the discussion in California where the legislature passed a benefits package that may exclude chiropractic services. For more information about health care reform, click here.
