"Stay Fit Seniors" Program Now Reimbursable Through Several Networks

Stay Fit Seniors is now a contracted exercise program provider for several  health insurance networks, according to the program's founders, Roger Russo, DC, and Anthony Lauro, DC. In a press release announcing the news, Drs. Russo and Lauro explained that seniors can utilize the benefit at any participating health care provider offering the Stay Fit Seniors, Silver & Fit or SilverSneakers exercise program, with providers reimbursed through Medicare Advance and Medicare Supplement health plans that offer an exercise benefit to their members.

"Chiropractic offices and other health care facilities are being considered by health insurance networks as prime destination points to deliver [physical activity intervention programs] to their members," they said in the release. "This is a great opportunity for chiropractors to not only be paid to deliver wellness services, but also to expose the non chiropractic public to chiropractic."

As first reported in DC in 2007, Stay Fit Seniors combines chiropractic care and regular exercise – in the form of a supervised circuit-training routine – exclusively for seniors ages 60 and older. The program was endorsed by Jack LaLanne, receiving national attention. Russo and Lauro regarding the Stay Fit Seniors program.
