It’s a new year and many chiropractors are evaluating what will enhance their respective practices, particularly as it relates to their bottom line. One of the most common questions I get is: “Do I need to be credentialed to bill insurance, and what are the best plans to join?” It’s a loaded question – but one every DC ponders. Whether you're already in-network or pondering whether to join, here's what you need to know.
NYCC Researchers to Study How Orthotics Affect LBP in Veterans
Building on a recently established multi-year affiliation with Foot Levelers, Inc., New York Chiropractic College is launching a research initiative headed by Professor Dr. Paul Dougherty. The initiative features a randomized, controlled trial at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center to assess the effectiveness of custom foot orthotics in veterans with chronic lower back pain, and to evaluate the effect of custom foot orthotics on improvement in pain and disability in this patient population.
The trial, which will be conducted over a two-year period, will actively recruit veterans ages 18 to 65 years who suffer from chronic lower back pain. The initiative is supported by a Foot Levelers grant totaling $243,000.
"NYCC has established a proven track record for conducting randomized controlled trials and these projects certainly build on that reputation," said Dr. Dougherty.
