Because they have yet to pass national legislation protecting the chiropractic profession, Japanese DCs are in a similar situation that U.S. DCs faced. We were fortunate enough to be able to pass chiropractic licensure state by state. The DCs in Japan must accomplish this nationally, which has proved to be an extremely difficult task. And in spite of their efforts, Japanese DCs are currently faced with two chiropractic professions.
Life West Honors Its 2011 Alumnus of the Year
The Life Chiropractic College West Alumni Association recently honored Michael Gazdar, DC, as its 2011 Alumnus of the Year. The award recognizes Dr. Gazdar's outstanding service to the chiropractic profession and his community.
Dr. Michael Gazdar is a 1989 graduate of Life Chiropractic College West and practices in Walnut Creek, Calif. He taught chiropractic technique at Life West between 1989 and 2006. Now, he travels extensively as the team chiropractor for the World-Champion San Francisco Giants. He also has authored a best-selling lay book on chiropractic, Taking Your Back to the Future.
Dr. Michelle Arietta, president elect of the Life West Alumni Association, stated, "It's really great seeing chiropractic taken to the performance level, especially with such an awesome ball club. Alumni serving at that capacity support Life West's vision of creating a brighter future for humanity. Congratulations, Dr. Gazdar!"
