Because they have yet to pass national legislation protecting the chiropractic profession, Japanese DCs are in a similar situation that U.S. DCs faced. We were fortunate enough to be able to pass chiropractic licensure state by state. The DCs in Japan must accomplish this nationally, which has proved to be an extremely difficult task. And in spite of their efforts, Japanese DCs are currently faced with two chiropractic professions.
Texas Chiropractic College Appoints First Director of Alumni Affairs
Texas Chiropractic College has named Gabrielle Greenwade to the new position of director of alumni affairs, TCC President Dr. Richard G. Brassard has announced. Greenwade has been a member of the TCC staff since 1990, serving as the executive assistant to the president. She takes on her new responsibilities effective immediately.
"I'm so excited to accept this new position," said Greenwade. "I've been fortunate to work with many alumni over the years while assisting Dr. Brassard, and Dr. (S.M.) Elliott before him. This is a great opportunity for me to further and expand those relationships, for the benefit of both TCC and the alumni association. I can't wait to get started!"
Greenwade will be responsible for establishing and building relationships with TCC alumni; working closely with the Alumni Association Board of Directors; developing working relationships between the alumni office and student affairs; and coordinating alumni affairs with ongoing admissions initiatives. She also will be coordinating with the Office of Institutional Advancement in fund-raising for the Annual Giving Program, as well as special programs and events.
"Gabrielle is the perfect person to take on this new position," said Dr. Brassard. "She already has great working relationships with many of our alumni through her work in my office, with our Board of Trustees and assisting with our annual homecoming convention. She has already been reaching out to our alumni and I'm delighted to hear the positive responses so far."
The first event being planned by Greenwade is a class reunion luncheon during the 2011 homecoming festivities. It is for alumni who graduated in years ending with either a "1" or a "6." The luncheon is scheduled for Friday, July 22, 12-2 p.m. at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas. For details and to RSVP, please contact Greenwade at 281-998-6070 or ggreenwade@txchiro.edu, or Nikki Hurley at 281-998-6060 or nhurley@txchiro.edu.
