Northwestern Health Sciences University Names New Provost
Michael Wiles, DC, MEd, has been named provost of Northwestern Health Sciences University. Dr. Wiles, dean of the university's college of chiropractic, had been serving as interim provost.
Dr. Wiles will oversee the academic programs at Northwestern, including Northwestern College of Chiropractic, the Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the School of Massage Therapy, and the College of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies. The Wolfe-Harris Center for Clinical Studies and the university's clinic system will also be under his leadership.
Dr. Wiles graduated in 1983 with a master's degree in education from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada; and earned his doctor of chiropractic in 1976 from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, where he served in numerous leadership positions.
For more than three decades, Dr. Wiles has been involved in higher education in a range of roles including teaching, scholarship, administration and leadership. He was awarded one of the first earned fellowships in the College of Chiropractic Sciences of Canada, and joined Northwestern as dean of the chiropractic college in 2005.
