Some doctors thrive in a personality-based clinic and have a loyal following no matter what services or equipment they offer, but for most chiropractic offices who are trying to grow and expand, new equipment purchases help us stay relevant and continue to service our client base in the best, most up-to-date manner possible. So, regarding equipment purchasing: should you lease, get a bank loan, or pay cash?
Honoring Our Heroes Over the Holidays
Two Texas chiropractic colleges displayed a true spirit of celebration and appreciation this holiday season that transcended chiropractic education and the profession they represent. Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) launched a new program to offer complimentary chiropractic care to active-duty personnel and their dependents, while Parker College of Chiropractic honored veterans with a special on-campus ceremony that was filmed and then sent to fellow students as a personalized holiday greeting.
The Moody Health Center, the outpatient clinic on the TCC campus, has been offering exams, X-rays, chiropractic manipulations and therapies free of charge to Department of Defense personnel and their families. The center announced the new program following the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009, which calls on the Secretary of Defense to expand the provision of chiropractic services within the next year. The temporary program is intended to assist in that provision until the congressional directive is implemented.
Meanwhile, at Parker College, Veteran's Day 2008 was a time to celebrate and remember. Parker veterans wore their uniforms to class to show their respect, and the Parker Military Association sponsored a memorial ceremony and appreciation luncheon on campus. The college has been actively involved with the Veterans Administration since October 2007, when interns began providing chiropractic services within the Dallas VA health care system. College administrators say the internship program prepares students for clinical practices within integrated care settings, including VA medical centers and military treatment facilities.
