The Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER) has launched DCConsult, an online research information resource established as part of the foundation's Evidence-Based Resource Center (EB-RC). According to the foundation, "This global access to evidence-based research and best practices data will benefit chiropractic patients, the research community investigating conditions and non-invasive therapies, practitioners of chiropractic and manual therapy, colleges and faculty, associations, agencies, regulatory bodies and others in the profession."
The FCER Board of Trustees and staff collaborated with, among others, Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College of Chiropractic, and Dr. Ron Rupert, Parker dean of research, to develop the resource center. Among the features DCConsult provides, subscribers can access the site daily and search on the Manual, Alternative and Natural Therapy Index System (MANTIS) and Medline databases for research relevant to patient conditions and care plans.
"[T]he core of this Web site has been under development by Dr. Rupert for many years. In addition, Dr. Mancini hired staff at Parker College to specifically develop the evidence-based literature reviews included on the site," said Dr. Charles Herring, FCER president. "The FCER trustees are pleased to be able to work with Dr. Rupert and Dr. Mancini to make this resource a reality for the chiropractic profession."
"Currently, DCConsult is a gateway, repository and sharing medium for chiropractic and alternative health care research and data," added Dr. Reed Phillips, FCER vice president and chair of the foundation's research committee. "[It] is impressively complete in the type and amount of relevant chiropractic information needed by the day-to-day practitioner, plus it's very easy to navigate."
DCConsult is a subscription-based resource center, with significantly reduced charter memberships available until Aug. 31, 2008. The introductory charter subscription rate for foundation members is $97 and $297 for nonmembers, which includes an FCER benefactor membership and its benefits. When I graduated from chiropractic college in 1981 and started practice, I heard it all, and very little was positive. “You are a quack; you do not know what a subluxation is; you couldn’t get into a real health care program, so you chose the one that is slightly above a mail-order degree; you have no proof that chiropractic works; Are you really licensed?”, and so much more.

The results of a global survey released late last year (2023) unveiled some startling findings among medical and nursing students. The “Clinician of the Future: 2023 Education Edition” surveyed 2,212 students, of which 446 were in the United States, from 91 countries.
