An estimated 14,000 leaders in public health and government are expected to attend this year's meeting in Washington, D.C. The meeting's theme, "Public Health and the Environment," reflects the profound impact environmental factors have on the health of the public. Issues involving the quality of the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat will be examined, as well as how we can protect and preserve the environment.
Erin Brockovich will be the keynote speaker at the Opening General Session on Sunday, Nov. 7; she will discuss her research and groundbreaking work in the area of industrial environmental negligence and its devastating effects on the public's health.

The Annual Meeting consists of more than 900 scientific sessions, roundtables, poster sessions, institutes and panel discussions, at which over 4,000 scientific papers will be presented.
