Because they have yet to pass national legislation protecting the chiropractic profession, Japanese DCs are in a similar situation that U.S. DCs faced. We were fortunate enough to be able to pass chiropractic licensure state by state. The DCs in Japan must accomplish this nationally, which has proved to be an extremely difficult task. And in spite of their efforts, Japanese DCs are currently faced with two chiropractic professions.
Egypt Accepts Life College Chiropractic Program
Chiropractic strengthened its international forum with the recent visit to Egypt by Dr. Sid E. Williams, president and founder of Life Chiropractic College.
Dr. Williams met with Egyptian officials at Ain-Shams University in Heliopolis, a suburb of Cairo, and documents were signed establishing a chiropractic research clinic in Egypt as part of the college-sponsored Life Around the World Program (LAW).
"Our successful trip demonstrates the growing world-wide acceptance of chiropractic as a leading health care system," said Dr. Williams.
The program's next step will be sending several doctors of chiropractic to Egypt to set up a research clinic. The demonstration project is designed to allow chiropractors to work side-by-side with the medical doctors in the host country.
These opportunities were originally established because of the work by the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) and Dr. Gary Auerbach, then chairman of International Affairs for the ICA. Dr. Auerbach is currently the president of the World Federation of Chiropractic.
