SCMC Ratifies a Constitution and By-laws

Society Membership Open to All Consultants
Editorial Staff

On October 7th, members of the recently formed Society of Chiropractic Management Consultants (SCMC) met in Dallas, Texas to ratify a constitution, by-laws, and rules of professional conduct and ethics.

The other items on the agenda were to set guidelines for future SCMC members and to adopt an official application for membership.

The SCMC was formed May 14, 1991 in Dallas, Texas for the purpose of insuring the chiropractic profession with ethical, competent, and professional practice management. (See "Society of Chiropractic Management Consultants Formed," in the June 7, 1991 issue.)

In attendance at the October 7 meeting were SCMC members Dr. Richard Vincent, president; Dr. Chuck Gibson, vice president; Dr. Larry Markson, secretary/treasurer; advisory board members Dr. Charlie Ward, Dr. Noel Lloyd, and Dr. David Singer; and Dr. Brian Koslow, and Dr. David Kats of the membership committee.

At the October 7th meeting, it was announced that SCMC President Dr. Richard Vincent would attend the October 17 meeting of the Louisiana Board of Chiropractic Examiners (LBCE). Dr. Vincent went to Baton Rouge to provide input for the Louisiana board members who are implementing recent chiropractic management consultant legislation. Louisiana Governor Charles Roemer recently signed a bill allowing the LBCE to regulate the actions of chiropractic practice management consultants in that state (see Oct 25, 1991 issue).

The next SCMC meeting is scheduled for April 5-7, 1992.

If any full-time chiropractic practice management consultant is interested in applying for membership in the SCMC, they may obtain an application by writing to:

SCMC
Dr. Larry Markson
Secretary-Treasurer
2001 Marcus Avenue,
Lake Success, New York 11042.

Editor's Note: The SCMC is quickly becoming the standard setting organization within the chiropractic consultant community. The SCMC's involvement with the Louisiana Licensing Board demonstrates a true desire to become involved in solutions for the benefit of the profession as well as the individual DC. If your consultant is not a member, please encourage them to investigate the advantages of SCMC membership for both you and your profession.
