Hurricane Relief Fund Set up for Florida DCs

John Gentile, DC

In the devastating wake of Hurricane Andrew, the Dade County Chiropractic Society has established a Hurricane Relief Fund for those DCs affected by the disaster.

Following the hurricane, it was impossible to reach many chiropractors as phone lines and electricity were down for weeks. Even today, all DCs have not been accounted for. In the weeks following the hurricane, it became apparent that many DCs, especially those in South Dade County, have experienced losses to their homes, offices, or both.

With this in mind, a relief fund was established by the Dade County Chiropractic Society and is being supported by the Florida Chiropractic Association (FCA), and the American Chiropractic Association (ACA). This fund has already amassed $10,000 in donations with more expected. Please note that this fund is for any DC affected, whether an association member or not: disasters don't discriminatory.

The generosity of DCs and numerous chiropractic suppliers nationwide has been heart-warming. We have received many calls from DCs and suppliers offering various types of equipment and even motor homes for living accommodations. But for right now, the most effective means of support would be donations.

Keeping that in mind, we would encourage you to forward your donations to:

On behalf of the chiropractors in south Florida, we appreciate everyone's support and comfort. In this time of need, we have found out that the chiropractic community is truly a worldwide brotherhood.
