Lawrence H. Wyatt, D.C., D.A.B.C.R., an assistant professor and chairman of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at TCC is the author of the recently released textbook, Handbook of Clinical Chiropractic. The book is designed to be a reference source to many of the more common clinical problems unique to the practice of chiropractic.
Dr. Wyatt, a 1984 magna cum laude graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic, did his radiology training with Joseph W. Howe, D.C., D.A.B.C.R. at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (LACC) before transferring to the Diagnostic Imaging Department of TCC in 1987.
TCC Participates in CASI Chili Cookoff
The weekend of November 9th, TCC's chili team attended the 25th annual Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI)'s world championship chili cookoff in Terlingua, Texas and claimed fourth place in the showmanship competition. The team performed a humorous skit in western garb, "The Good, The Bad and The Chiropractor," spoofing the popular "spaghetti" western movie of a similar name.
The team competed with 86 other show teams for the title. Participating DCs and chiropractic students included: Jim Lundin, David Maske, Rick and Patty Savard, Dr. Darla Brown, Dr. Roland Hicks, Michael Shippy, Dr. Tim McKinley, Nancy Sellars, Lewis Clark, Kim Ellis, Dr. Carol Oakley, Curtis Cogburn, and Dr. Pierce Handley.
Funding for the team was provided by the TCC Student Body Association, of which Jim Lundin is president, Dr. DeWayne Mirtsching, Dr. Phil Figueroa, and Dr. Tim McKinley.
TCC Assembly Held
Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) held a special assembly November 6th featuring speakers Dr. George Aubert from Tomball, Texas, representing the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and Dr. Melvin Aldridge, president of the TCC Alumni Association. The two doctors spoke about the concerns many students have about their futures in chiropractic, including finishing their schooling and entering private practice.
