Because they have yet to pass national legislation protecting the chiropractic profession, Japanese DCs are in a similar situation that U.S. DCs faced. We were fortunate enough to be able to pass chiropractic licensure state by state. The DCs in Japan must accomplish this nationally, which has proved to be an extremely difficult task. And in spite of their efforts, Japanese DCs are currently faced with two chiropractic professions.
FCLB Issues New Directory
The Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (FCLB) announced the publication of its 1993-94 Official Directory. The document's 73 pages are replete with the current licensure requirements for all 51 U.S. regulatory boards of chiropractic. Contact information for Canadian provinces and some foreign jurisdictions is also included.
The Official Directory is specially designed for doctors seeking reciprocity or endorsement, and prospective and graduating students seeking licensure. It is designed to be the single source for all licensing inquiries.
Some of the many topic areas include:
- summary of scope of practice
- reciprocity/endorsement regulations
- continuing education information
- fees
- application and testing deadlines
- optional licenses or certifications
- physiotherapy information
- if students may sit for their boards prior to graduation
- board members/terms
- undergraduate requirements
- accreditation for colleges
